Hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxed condition is a naturally occurring state that most people go in and out of for the majority of the day (i.e.  daydreaming). With a clinical hypnotherapist present, clients are consciously guided through the subconscious areas of their mindWhen our subconscious and conscious minds are aligned big changes can occur in our lives including significantly improving our physical, emotional, and mental health.

HeartLight Wellness's Dr. John Brady is one of only a few Certified Medical/Dental Hypnotherapist (C.Ht) by the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association and accredited practitioner of therapeutic relaxation in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. In the U.S. today there are 40 million people suffering from stress and anxiety, the 14.8 million suffering from depression, and 7.7 million people suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. In 2016 alone the US spent 446 billion dollars on medications--almost half of the global market.

The American Institute of Stress calls stress “America’s leading health problem.” Stress is so commonplace in our lives that we often ignore its hidden, harmful effects on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

In fact, the American Medical Association has noted that stress is the basic cause for more than 60% of all human illnesses and diseases, and Stress-related ailments are also responsible for more than 75% of all medical office visits and complaints including:

When it comes to dealing with chronic stress we should take Ben Franklin's advice, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Remember the old Fram Oil Filter tagline, "You can pay now, or you'll pay more later" ? It is the same principle with stress! Ignoring chronic stress's wear and tear on the mind and body eventually creates painful physical, mental, emotional symptoms, and huge medical bills later.  Hypnotherapy is a proven painless process to reduce stress, and create healthy, happy lifestyle.

NOTE: Individual patient results may vary depending on their unique symptoms and conditions. Dr. Brady is a certified therapeutic hypnotherapist and is not a physician. He does not "cure" the underlying causes of disease, and as a therapeutic hypnotherapist, Dr. Brady uses hypnosis to induce a deeply relaxed state that relieves the symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and other conditions. Medical research has shown hypnosis provides significant relief from physical, mental, and emotional stress, chronic pain and other stress related conditions.

Does hypnotherapy work? Science says "Yes!"

In a comparison study reported by American Health Magazine indicates some psychological issues benefit more from hypnotherapy than psychoanalysis and behavior therapy. A German university meta-analysis of 444 studies supported this claim, concluding a93 percent success rate with hypnotherapy for stress, anxiety and chronic pain.

Psychology Today Hypnosis and hypnotherapy has been rooted in science with evidence based results reported for many years. Although the American Medical Association (AMA) currently has no clear position on the effectiveness of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, in 1958, the AMA reported hypnotherapy has a recognized place in the medical armamentarium and is a useful technique in the treatment of certain illnesses.

Hypnotherapy is considered an effective adjunct in psychotherapy for many issues, and more are being studied. On its own, hypnotherapy is reported to be beneficial: In 2001, the British Psychological Society commissioned a group of expert psychologists and published a report that declared hypnosis a proven therapeutic medium and valid for study.

The report went on to say hypnotherapy is beneficial for a wide range of issues encountered in medicine, psychology and psychiatry with regard to stress, anxiety, pain, and psychosomatic illnesses. Some illnesses described are insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches and migraines, asthma and a variety of skin maladies. Weight reduction was also cited as benefiting from hypnotherapy.

The American Psychology Association (APA) website has declared hypnotherapy can be a powerful, effective therapeutic technique for a wide variety of conditions. According to Sanjay Paul, a psychology instructor at several universities, hypnosis accesses the subconscious mind which is responsible for up to 90 to 95 percent of our thoughts and actions. He goes on to say the sub-conscious that helps to maintain ones self-image and record all memory via sensor input as a 24 hour mental tape recorder.

Ohio based certified hypnotherapist Janet Berg says hypnosis can provide lasting change. She describes hypnosis as a state where the sub-conscious can readily accept and act on new information and suggestions for healing, change, growth and attainment of individual goals.

The hypnosis experience, according to Paul, is the phase one enters directly before falling asleep or upon awakening and Berg claims those under hypnosis can leave this state voluntarily at any time. Those who receive hypnotherapy describe the experience as relaxing and refreshing.

Hypnotherapy is gaining ground fast as a respected form of therapy within the corridors of the scientific community.
